Jar, Large Pear in Ivory & Navy

A large and elegant lidded jar that would be an eye-catcher in any room to complement your home decor. Beautiful for use, or use just for beauty. This luscious, pear-shaped jar is glazed in a glossy ivory, and decorated with navy blue panels layered with a subtle pattern, navy polka dots, and a lovely, vining textural floral with fine inlay lines.

Process:
I throw this form on the potter’s wheel and then alter it and the lid into a soft square shape. The foot is trimmed and then the bottom is carved for a nice detailed accent. I also decorate the surface with sponged and trailed slip (the clay version of cake-decorating) creating swirls and dots of textured pattern, as well as inlay.
