Yunomi w. Sunrise/ Sunset in Periwinkle Blue, Clouds & Polka Dots

A Victorian mod cup with a new sun stamp that could be to celebrate morning or evening depending on what you'd like to cheer with your favorite beverage. I glazed this cup in a satin periwinkle blue, hand-brushed suns in alternating orange and yellow, and soft, poofy clouds mixed with polka dots in sky and navy blue. A happy cup for everyday whether you're a morning person or night person, or both!

My Victorian modern take on a Japanese style tea bowl / cup that will bring something special to whatever you enjoy drinking (tea to wine). A yunomi is a cup with no handle, usually shaped taller than wide for informal tea drinking.

Process:
These cups are ornamented with lots of surface deco, giving each one unique rich layers of elegance. I throw each cup on the potter’s wheel and then use a stamp I design and make to impress and alter the surface. My fingerprint is on the other side of each one of the imprints creating a great exterior texture as well as a lovely interior shape to your drink. I also decorate with slip-trailing (the clay version of cake decorating), slip-sponging, and underglaze. No molds are used, and every one truly has a one-of-a-kind, layered surface.

About:
- Approx: 4" h x 4" diameter; 14 oz
- The clay and glazes are lead-free and food safe.
- My work is both elegant AND intended for your use and enjoyment. While very durable, microwavable, and dishwasher safe, handmade pottery can need (and happily, deserves) a little more love to prolong its life than contemporary manufactured ware: Because of the abrasive nature of dishwashing detergent, which could eventually dull the surface over time, hand washing is not necessary, but recommended. Do not pour boiling, stovetop water directly into handmade ware. “Pre-warming” your cup by swirling warm/hot tap water prior to pouring your fave hot beverage is recommended.
