Yunomi w. Cupcakes in Ivory w. Polka Dots
This dreamy, cheerful cup is stamped with celebratory cupcakes, one 'colorized' in hand-brushed pink icing and yellow cake, and all have a red cherry w. a green leaf on top! Dancing above the cupcakes are small and large polka dots in yellow, pink and green with navy blue inlay 'sparkles' layered under textural swirls. I glazed this cup in a glossy ivory. A delightful handmade cup that can't help but bring a smile, for a daily or momentous occasion.

My take on a Japanese style tea bowl / cup that will bring something special to whatever you enjoy drinking (hot tea to wine). A yunomi is a cup with no handle, usually shaped taller than wide for informal tea drinking.

Process:
These cups are ornamented with lots of surface deco, giving each one unique rich layers of elegance. I throw each cup on the potter’s wheel and then use a stamp I design and make to impress and alter the surface. My fingerprint is on the other side of each one of the imprints creating a great exterior texture as well as a lovely interior shape to your drink. I also decorate with slip-trailing (the clay version of cake decorating), slip-sponging, and underglaze. No molds are used, and every one truly has a one-of-a-kind, layered surface.

About:
- Approx: 4" h x 4" diameter; 14 oz
- The clay and glazes are lead-free and food safe.
- My work is both elegant AND intended for your use and enjoyment. While very durable, microwavable, and dishwasher safe, handmade pottery can need (and happily, deserves) a little more love to prolong its life than contemporary manufactured ware: Because of the abrasive nature of dishwashing detergent, which could eventually dull the surface over time, hand washing is not necessary, but recommended. Do not pour boiling, stovetop water directly into handmade ware. “Pre-warming” your cup by swirling warm/hot tap water prior to pouring your fave hot beverage is recommended.
