Yunomi w. Eyes in Periwinkle & Navy
Glazed in a satin light periwinkle blue w. navy blue detail.
A commonly misunderstood and misused symbol, the eye is historically positive and considered by numerous cultures to mean protection, self-awareness, wisdom, compassion, healing, and more, which is my interest and intention, as well as homage to the Victorian lover's eye.
A yunomi is a cup with no handle usually shaped taller than wide, traditionally for informal tea drinking. The most elaborate cups I make for whatever warms your belly, from tea to wine.
- Approx: 4 1/2” h x 3 3/4” diameter; 12 oz.
- Wheel-thrown & stamped, and decorated with underglaze, slip-sponge, inlay, & slip-trail deco.
- The clay and glazes are lead-free and food safe.
- My work is both elegant AND intended for your use and enjoyment. While very durable, microwavable, and dishwasher safe, handmade pottery can need (and happily, deserves) a little more love to prolong its life than contemporary manufactured ware: Because of the abrasive nature of dishwashing detergent, which could eventually dull the surface over time, hand washing is not necessary, but recommended. Do not pour boiling, stovetop water directly into handmade ware. “Pre-warming” your cup by swirling warm/hot tap water prior to pouring your fave hot beverage is recommended.
Note: If your order costs less to pack & ship, I reimburse overages.
